Members
Membership has its benefits!

The Lord is responsible for building and adding to the church as such should be saved according to His will (Matt. 16:18; Acts 2:47). God appointed every individual as a member in one Body as it pleased Him (1 Cor. 12:18). Each member contributes to the whole body as a community of born-again believers. 

Church Contributes to the Members

  • Safe, sacred, and Spirit-filled worshiping environment
  • Sound doctrine through the expression of teaching and preaching
  • Biblical training and development for members
  • Loving and inclusive atmosphere to fellowship with other believers
  • Effective and relevant ministries
  • Good Stewardship of resources
  • Hold members accountable through encouragement and discipline to promote spiritual maturity  

 

Members Contribute to the Church

  • Regular attendance and participation in weekly church services, activities, and ministries
  • Regularly and consistently contribute financially through tithes and offerings
  • Regularly read, study, and meditate upon God’s Word
  • Regularly fellowship with members and resolve conflicts with members as needed
  • Join a ministry and regularly serve
Membership Benefits
  • Active members have the right to vote in business meetings and elections.

  • Active members have access to facilities (sanctuary/fellowship hall) and services at no cost for funerals/memorials services of immediate family members (mother, father, husband, wife, brother, sister, children, and themselves).

  • Active members have access to use the facilities at a significantly discounted fee for events other than a funeral that are within the limits of the rental agreement, church schedule, and discretion of the pastor. There is a $100 rental fee for members. The rental fee is $500 for non-active members and outside individuals. Members are expected to complete a rental agreement and pay $100 to the church before the use of the facility.

  • Active members will be able to take advantage of the Benevolence Fund and Scholarship Fund. 
Termination of Membership
  • No longer considered a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church if you are not an active member and have not attended services, participated in assigned ministries, or regularly contributed financially through tithes and offerings in 90 days.
  • Membership can be terminated due to refusal to repent and accept church discipline as stated in Scriptures (Matt.18:15-17).
  • Member or individual can and will be expelled from services and property if they are violent and/or pose a credible threat to the church members, staff, volunteers, or property. Law enforcement may be called if needed.
  • Death
  • Dismission to another Church
  • Exclusion by action of this church. (Example withdrawing right hand of fellowship).
